The best Art Deco gems in Miami
The Art Deco style found in Miami Beach is a product of many previous new ideas and movements: Cubism, de Stijl, Futurism, Expressionism and the Bauhaus.
Art Deco style was active in Europe from 1910 to 1935. In America, at the time, was active industrial design, fantasy of Hollywood movie, as well as some ideas of architects Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright – who implemented the European ideas and created an Art Deco style uniquely American. All of these European and American forces are present in the Art Deco architecture of Miami Beach.
A good place to begin tour around Miami Art Deco District is toward the southern end of Ocean Drive, between Sixth and Seventh Streets, and head north. Among the handsomest buildings here is the Park Central Hotel.
