Sayed Haider Raza (1922 – 2016) was one of India’s greatest icons of modern and contemporary art. A founder of the enormously influential Progressive Artists group, he combined western abstraction with Indian visual traditions and helped to create a uniquely Indian style of contemporary art.

At Centre Pompidou, during the exhibition you can admire nearly one hundred pieces of the work of Sayed Haider Raza. When in France, he followed the formal and conceptual developments of a body of modern work that exemplifies transcultural dynamics and their issues in 20th century art.
