Mifuko, handmade baskets from Kenya
All Mifuko´s products are handmade in Kenya by the local artisans in women’s self-help groups. While workshops offer artisans a regular income, good working conditions and further education, artisans get also needed knowledge. Mifuko’s supply chain is completely transparent so you know who makes the products and in what conditions they work. Mifuko makes sure that the working conditions of the artisans meet all fair-trade standards.
We work with hands and hearts. All items are handcrafted by skilled artisans. We collaborate with women artisans to provide unique items to customers.
We tell the stories about the makers. The production is transparent, and each product is signed by its maker.
We combine contemporary Finnish design with traditional Kenyan artisan techniques
We support artisan to carry on a tradition that has been passed down from one generation to another, technique learnt from their mothers and grandmothers.
