Jazz at la Villette, co-produced with the Philharmonie de Paris, is the back-to-school meeting point for all lovers of jazz and Great Black Music.
For this 19th edition, the festival team and artists have come together to affirm that the vocation of Jazz à la Villette is to create links, to defend living music, and to offer you ten days of celebration for around fifteen concerts. .
The program reflects the DNA of the festival: defending a kaleidoscopic vision of this ever-moving music and its history. The festival affirms an open conception of free-jazz to hip hop, from blues to soul, including the crossbreeding of world music.
This year, the program gives pride of place to legendary artists with in particular Michel Portal or the rereading of the Africa / Brass album by John Coltrane by the Dal Sasso Big Band and his guests (David El Malek, Sophie Alour, Irving Acao) . The young, dynamic and unclassifiable scene is also very present (Laura Perrudin, Sélène Saint-Aimé…). More than ever, the festival is opening up to musical mixes by inviting the Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara, the Cuban prodigy Roberto Fonseca or the fascinating West Indian scene (creation “Gwo Ka Pwojè” with Sonny Troupé, Arnaud Dolmen, Olivier Juste, Jonathan Jurion, Christian Laviso).
