I have always started a new body of work with basic forms of restriction. In Belleville, Paris, where I had my studio, the work was based on the physicality of the immediate space, the proportions of the studio itself, the objects and the tools in the space and especially the peculiarity of the light that was filtered through the tall vertical windows which generated the simultaneous quality of reflectivity and transparency
