Museum Bourdelle Paris
Museum Bourdelle, it’s an art museum in the former studio and home of the French sculptor Antoine Bourdelle (1861–1929), who was a major figure in modern sculpture and a student/assistant of Auguste Rodin.
The Museum Bourdelle is located in the 15ᵉ arrondissement in the Montparnasse area – a historical artists’ quarter of Paris.
You walk through the actual spaces where Bourdelle lived and worked – including his atelier, apartments, and gardens – giving a strong sense of his life as an artist.
The collection includes plaster casts, bronze and marble sculptures, sketches and photographs documenting his creative process.
There are sculptures displayed outdoors in peaceful garden settings and arcaded galleries, which makes it a pleasant visit even if you spend only a short time there.
The permanent displays help trace Bourdelle’s evolution from Rodin’s assistant to a leading sculptor in his own right.
You’ll see works that range from mythological subjects to expressive modern figures.
The Museum Bourdelle also hosts special exhibitions. For example, in late 2025 it’s showing a major exhibition of Magdalena Abakanowicz, the influential Polish artist known for her powerful textile and sculptural works — about 70 pieces exploring themes of existence and material.
