The American dream. From pop to the present day
The American dream, it’s an unique opportunity to see pieces of graphic work by artists such as Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns or Robert Rauschenberg.
Graphic art provides a fresh and diverse perspective on how artists saw this period of profound change in the United States: civil rights, the Cold War, the space race, the Vietnam War, rock music and the counterculture, the feminist movements or the questioning of the American dream by the growing inequality between rich and poor.
“The American dream. From pop to the present day” offers an overview of the development of graphic art in the United States from 1960 to the present day, in which special attention is paid to key figures in its history, such as Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein and Robert Rauschenberg.
The exhibition works come mostly from the collection of the British Museum.
