Architectures on the Waterfront. Mies van der Rohe Award
The exhibition Architectures on the Waterfront, it’s a dive into the Archive of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award.
Port spaces constitute one of the territories where the transformation of the contemporary European city has shown with more intensity. As a result of the collaboration with Arquitectes per l’Arquitectura, a selection of 68 works from the EU Mies Award Archive tells us with images, audiovisuals and models the particular stories of these architectures that build new spaces for the city’s relationship with water.
The panorama that define the successive editions of the Prize proposes the game of multiple readings and, just as it was done with publications such as ATLAS or exhibitions such as Spanish Architectures, Chronicle from Europe, each filter that is applied generates a new look, a piece of new information. This is now the architecture of European waterfronts.
The exhibition will open with a presentation and round table with the participation of Francesc Muñoz, director of the Urbanization Observatory (UAB), Francis Rambert, director of the Institut français d’architecture and Elías Torres, architect co-author of Esplanade Forum 2004 and Photovoltaic Plant, finalist of the EU Mies Award 2005.
