This year, the event, held by the ethnographic film committee, will present more than 70 movies, each exploring in their own way the plurality of societies and human cultures. The festival, which has become a meeting place for researchers and moviemakers, also aims to be a “must-see” event for modern documentary films. Its engaged program questions the relation of men to their environment, as well as the relation between a moviemaker and the subject of his movie. As a tribute to the avant-garde vision of his founder, the International Jean Rouch film fest wishes to promote an open-mindedness in today’s troubled world.
